How Powder Coating Works
A dry powder is electrostatically applied to the part or item, which is then cured in a baking oven at a temperature of 350 to 425 degrees. Our powder coating process is environmentally responsible because there are no solvents to evaporate, eliminating all air emissions. CR Metal Fabricators also captures 100% of all cleaning liquids used during the powder coating preparation process. These liquids are then treated through a waste treatment system which stops etching and priming fluids from ending up in the environment. Powder coatings have proven to be an efficient, economical, and ecologically sound method of industrial finishing. Generally, powders outperform liquids because of their higher molecular weight and greater insolubility; there is less film porosity with superior chemical resistance, toughness, hardness, and abrasion resistance.
